Junior Super 6s
Before Christmas, our Boys under 16s and Girls under 18s finished top of the London indoor hockey tournament to qualify for the National Super 6s final.
Saturday 11th January saw Fin Hurst and his U16 squad head to Derby. The boys took on the best indoor teams in the country, finishing top of Pool B with goals from Mumford x 2, Neir x 2, Collier, England, Sealey and Turnbull.
The boys headed into the Semi-final against Repton, the close match saw Wimbledon down 1-0 at halftime, and although the boys fought back to earn a place in the final, Repton held the 1-0 victory. The boys finished a respectable joint 3rd with City of York, with vital experience for next year.
Next up was the Girls U18s on Sunday 12th January, led by Paige Gillott the girls battled through the pool round to finish top. The semi-finals vs Clifton Robinson saw Wimbledon enter halftime 2-0 up with just 10 minutes left to seal the victory the girls took on the challenge, finishing with a 3-1 win and a place in the final.
The final saw the girls take on Knole Park, going down 1-0 at halftime Barnett stepped up to secure the equaliser, but a strong penalty corner from Knole Park saw them take the 2-1 victory.
Taking the silver this year but are ready to go for the gold next year. Goals from Barnett x 8, Franklin x 3, Barr x 2, Barker x 2.
